About Friday Studio

We are a group of experienced artists who enjoy painting with other artists in a light hearted, friendly atmosphere.

Generally subject matter is entirely up to the individual.  About four times a year, when it’s our turn to display paintings in the main building, we’ll choose a group topic, for example a poem, a painting style, a still life etc.

As most members have painted for some time we do not hold classes.  Group members hold workshops highlighting their areas of expertise.  Occasionally we will have a local artist conduct a workshop.  When this happens we share the cost subsidised by Friday Studio funds. The group would have discussed the choice of workshop and all members are expected to take part. We enjoy bus trips to visit galleries and studios and try to plan a few each year.

Originally Friday Studio encouraged many different types of artistic activities.  Over the years we have found that most members just want to paint.  However we still welcome artists experienced in other areas if their activity is suited to a confined space or the verandah.

Group numbers are limited to 16 as our rooms contain that number of tables. TUA subscription is $30 annually for everyone. Friday Studio fees are $6 a day (Friday of course). $5 for TUA rent and incidental expenses and $1 for our Charity fund. We support local charities only and have an occasional fundraiser as well.

Friday Studio began in 2001 and is a particularly harmonious, friendly group. Newcomers attend a probationary period of three weeks before paying TUA subs.
